What is the Congressional Research Service?
The Congressional Research Service is a nonpartisan agency within the Legislative Branch which provides policy and legal analysis to members of Congress.
It employs policy analysts and attorneys with expertise in law, economics, foreign affairs, defense and homeland security, public administration, education, health care, immigration, energy, science and technology, and environmental protection.
These experts provide members of Congress with analysis of current policies and the possible impact of proposed policies.
